Our Farm Story

Welcome to Groovy Gopher Lavender Farm!
We’re a family of seven, married for over 20 years—living on a beautiful property with stunning views. Our spacious land provides the perfect backdrop to teach our five children the joys of spending time outdoors and caring for nature.

Years ago, our property was overrun with gophers, turning our soil into Swiss cheese—no, really, it was a gopher buffet. After extensive research on creating a healthy landscape, we discovered lavender—the perfect super-powered flower! It looks beautiful, smells amazing, is drought-tolerant, medicinal, and—best of all—keeps pests away, (including our arch-nemesis, the gopher). And that’s how Groovy Gopher Lavender Farm came to be—a flower-powered solution to our underground enemy.

As we continue to develop our farm, our love for lavender grows—kind of like how weeds used to grow before lavender kicked them to the curb. We grow our plants organically and only use the best ingredients to make products we’re incredibly proud of. Everything we do is for you, our valued customer, and maybe a little bit for the lavender, too.

We also love teaching others about living a more self-sufficient life, whether it’s maximizing backyard chickens, maintaining bee hives, or learning all the many, many uses of lavender (spoiler alert: it’s not just for fancy sachets!)

Do you offer tours of your farm?

We love sharing the beauty of our lavender farm with wonderful people like you! Hosting visitors and telling our story is one of our favorite things to do. While we primarily welcome guests during scheduled workshops or events, we’re always open to discussing other visit opportunities. Send us a message, and we’ll be happy to explore the possibilities!—unless, of course, a gopher needs us. Then, all bets are off.

Where are you located?

Our farm is nestled in the picturesque Alessandro Heights neighborhood of Riverside, CA, where we grow our lavender estate-style.

Can I shop in-person?

We invite you to experience in-person shopping at our farm stand! We are currently open on Sundays from 9:00am-1:00pm and offer a variety of locally baked sourdough and other goodies as well as all of our homemade lavender products. Please follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see weekly offerings and changes to business hours, as applicable.

How large is the farm?

We maximize every inch of our one-acre property, dedicated to growing and preparing lavender and no room to share it with those pesky gophers. Situated in a welcoming neighborhood with nearby citrus and avocado groves, our fully functional lavender farm is a true oasis.

When is the best time to visit?

June-July is the perfect time to visit, as it’s peak bloom season. The lavender is at its most vibrant and aromatic and the bees are really buzzing! However, our online shop is open year-round, allowing you to enjoy the lavender experience anytime.

Once I place an order, how does shipping work?

We understand your excitement to receive your lavender goodies! Typically, we package orders within 2-3 business days. Delivery time varies depending on your location in the US, usually taking 1-5 days (and depending on the shipping method selected during checkout). We offer FREE shipping for orders over $75 and discounted shipping if you are local to our farm. We deliver through a variety of couriers including USPS, UPS and Gopher Express (our 1971 Volkswagen bus). Shipping costs are calculated during checkout so you know exactly what to expect. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated with an email containing a tracking number so you can eagerly anticipate its arrival!

Do you have options for expediting orders?

Absolutely! We know that sometimes you need your lavender treats in a hurry, and we’re here to help. If you’re on a time crunch, please give us a call or send us an email. We’ll do our best to expedite your package and ensure it arrives as soon as possible, aligned with your timeline.

What is your return policy?

We want you to fall head over heels in love with everything you order from us! However, since many of our products are one-time use, we aren’t able to offer returns. Your positive experience is very important to us, so if you have any questions or concerns about your order, please reach out to us at info@groovygopherfarm.com. We’d love to hear from you and we are committed to a great experience when ordering from us.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently, we focus on shipping within the United States and do not offer international shipping. However, we’re always exploring new possibilities, so stay tuned for updates!

Where are your products made?

Our products are carefully crafted right here on our farm. We take pride in creating small-batch lavender goods using clean and natural ingredients. Each product is handcrafted with you in mind, ensuring the highest quality and attention to detail.

Do you offer custom or special orders?

We’re always open to exploring whatever wild and wonderful ideas you have in mind! Whether it’s lavender wedding favors, custom creations, or homeschool field trips that involve more lavender than you ever thought possible, we’re game to see how we can make it happen. Just contact us and tell us what you’re looking for—we’ll respond as fast as our busy bees collecting pollen (which, let’s face it, is pretty quick).
